Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What makes you different from the pet store training classes? A: We
specialize solely in dog behavior and training. All of our Instructors
have extensive educational backgrounds in canine behavior, are Certified
Professional Dog Trainers through the Certification Council for
Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) and have been teaching dogs and their
people collectively for many decades. Read about our Instructors here: http://www.woofology.com/trainers.html
Q: Do you offer a service where you'll
take my pup or dog for a period of time and train him/her for me? A: This
type of service is usually referred to as "board and train" or "boot
camp", and no, we do not. We do offer in-home training and behavior
consultation services, to teach you how to teach your dog, but we do not
take the dog from you, nor do we do the training for you.
**We want to caution anyone considering sending their dog away for training, that we are NOT aware of any such services available in our area except places that use harsh methods e.g. prong/choke/shock collars.
It is your responsibility to know exactly what your dog will endure in the name of training should you decide to have someone else do it for you -be sure you really know what's going to go on. It would be a good idea to keep in mind that if the promises made by someone who's going to train your dog for you sound "too good to be true" they probably are. Here's an article that outlines a few very good reasons you'd be wise to really think twice before you make the decision to send your dog away for someone else to train: http://ferndogtraining.com/why-sending-your-dog-away-for-training-doesnt-work/
If you are thinking about sending your dog away for training, please give us a call before you decide - there are much simpler and safer options to consider!
Q: What areas do you cover for private in-home training services? A: Most
of Oakland County and parts of Macomb County. **Note; If you live more
that 10 miles one-way from our facility, mileage & drive time
charges may apply.
Q: I live outside of your service area. Can you help me locate an experienced positive reinforcement training professional in my area?
A: Yes! See below for a list of organization websites with search features to help you find a qualified professional in your area. This list is comprised of organizations where membership guarantees the use of scientifically sound, positive reinforcement-based techniques:

classes do fill quickly, and well in advance, so if you
need help now, but find that the soonest-starting pup classes are
already full, there are options! Consider our Puppy Primer Package,
which will help you get started with clicker training, provide you
one-on-one help with the behaviors you're struggling with, and includes 2

Q: I can't attend the class I've signed up for, can I get a refund? A: While we are happy to offer transfer options (see below for details), we do not offer
refunds.
Q: Ok, what are my options? A: There are several:

your class has not yet begun, we'd be glad to transfer class funds to
private in-home training instead - a $50 transfer fee will apply. *Option #2 does not apply to specialty classes* 3) If
your class has already begun, but you have not attended any of your
classes yet, we'd be glad to transfer class funds to private in-home
training instead - a $50 transfer fee will apply. ***This option does not apply to specialty classes. **If you qualify for class fund transfer as outlined in #3 above please note: In-home
training rates vary based on the behavior/s being worked on, so there
may be additional charges above what you have already paid for class and
the transfer fee. 4) You may transfer class funds to our daycare program at no additional charge.

indicated above. You may still transfer your remaining class funds to daycare if you so choose.
Q:
I've already started attending my class, but I realize that I have to
miss a session or more of it now, can I transfer to another class? A: We
do not offer transfers options for this scenario, but you will continue
to receive your emailed training guides each week as usual, so you can
stay current with the lessons.
Q: Can I do
a make up class if I can't make a class?
Q: Is my dog too old for class? A: NO!! We've had "senior" aged dogs through our classes, they're never too old to learn!
Q: Is class right for my dog? A: Is your dog shy? Does he bark at dogs or people? If you're not sure class is right for your dog, read this.
Q: I took a "basics" class somewhere else, and I didn't learn clicker training. Can I bring my dog to your Intermediate Class? A: Yes!! You'll learn about the clicker and how to use it properly in class!
Q: Can my kids come with me and our dog to intermediate class?
A: Kids 13 years of age and older can accompany their parent/s with the dog to intermediate class. Kids 13 years or older can
also handle the dog on the floor during class as long as our Handlers
Waiver has been completed and signed by parent/guardian, who must attend
each week's class with their child.
Q: I took a puppy class somewhere else, and s/he's only 5 months old, can I take your intermediate class? A: Yes,
in most cases. Intermediate class
is open to dogs 5 1/2 months of age or older - or to pups who've
graduated from our puppy class who may be younger. If you're
successfully past the common "puppy problems" (i.e., house training,
excessive mouthing, etc.) then intermediate class is probably right for
you. Please contact us, we'll be happy to answer questions!
Q: I have 2 dogs, can I bring them both to class? A: Yes!
But we usually recommend that dogs living in the same household come to
separate classes. If you have more than one dog, please give us a call
to discuss further.

happy to offer transfer options (see below for details), we do not offer refunds.

Q: What are your DayCare hours?
A: 6:30am to 6:30pm Monday through Friday.
Q: How old does my puppy need to be to attend your DayCare? A: Pups can start as soon as they've had a minimum of 2 distemper series vaccines, bordatella, and a fecal check -
this may be as early as 8-10 weeks!

Q: How do I register for daycare?
A: Give us a call at 248.588.3222!
Q: What will my dog's day at daycare be like? A: We believe that a balance of play and rest are
important to your dogs physical and behavioral health! Play times last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes each, and are followed by crate/down time
for water and a nap! Then it's out for potty and another play group! The cycle repeats a minimum 4 times per day - sometimes 5 times. Play groups start at 8:30 and rotate as outlined above, until 4pm.
Q: What vaccines does my dog need for daycare? A: For
pups
*under 6 months of age we require veterinary record of; a minimum of 2 distemper series vaccines, bordatella, and a fecal check current within the past 90 days. For dogs *6 months of age and older we require veterinary record of; current
distemper series, bordatella, rabies, and a fecal check that is current
within the past 90 days.
Q: If my pup/dog needs medication, can you give it to him/her?
A: Yes, provide us with the medication and clear instructions and we'll be happy to do that for you.
Q: My dog has been dismissed from another daycare place. Will you accept him/her in your program? A: We
get these calls a lot, so you're not alone! We'll need to speak to your
directly to get the specifics, but most
dogs can socialize properly when paired with the correct dog/s for his or her play style. Properly assessing your dogs social skills -- or limitations makes all the difference.
